About jjewell.com

Jeff Jewell (jj) established jjewell.com in 1996 by typing raw html into NotePad.  A decade and change of technological advances, internet land rushes, and personal prerogatives later, the jjewell.com domain points to this WordPress weblog.

In 1998, jjewell.com 2.0 was home to the North American Tour ‘98, a motorhome odyssey from which Jeff posted regular updates, well before anyone starting calling such a collection a “blog.”

In 2000, jjewell.com 3.0 presented a bulletin board that became popular enough among old-school Disney fans to be spun off for a few years as WaltsFrozenHead.com… which unfortunately decayed with internecine squabbling then fell to technical failure and subsequent lack of interest.  But it was as entertaining and hopeful a Disney site as could be found, while it lasted.

In 2003, jj registered jeffjewell.net and jeffjewell.org.  jjewell.com 4.0 was deemed the frontpage of jj as a business, jeffjewell.org was designated the frontpage of my casual/personal interactions, and jeffjewell.net was declared the frontpage for private/family content.  Between 2003 and 2008, the three domains have pointed to various services or servers as business situations and other conditions have changed.  As the web presence business decreased and the Mac support business increased, jjewell 5.0 content appeared on Apple’s MobileMe service.

In June 2009, jj finally got on track toward a New Years Resolution to create a better web presence.  While the “original daily content” letter of the resolution has not been met during the last six months, a necessary foundation has been laid: subdomains were created, deleted and combined, hosts were acquired, software has been and continues to be installed and configured.  As of August, 2009, jjewell.com points to this WordPress.com weblog dedicated to exploring, documenting, and refining the process of social media.
